Wrington Student's Plea for Sri Lankan Charity Help

I write to you all today, to ask for support and warmth from a local community much given to various appeals with the PTA and other charities.

My name is Jeremy Plumley, I'm a student studying for a degree in Creative Music Technology at local University College 'Bath Spa'. Those who know it will know of the beauty and nature that can be experienced from within the grounds and surrounding areas.

I first started the degree in September, it's a great course with fantastic students and lecturers. One lecturer, and the course coordinator for year one is Clive Hughes, now a friend and teacher of mine for the past 3 years. He introduced me to the work of Shiva Charity, as we planned to visit the himalayan kingdom of Nepal for a 2-3 week visit and trek to help a school near Kathmandu (capital of Nepal). The school is known as the Ginette Harrison School (GHS) and is currently under threat from the maoists.

However, on 27th December i received an email from Clive urgently appealing for help and support for the victims of boxing day's catastrophic disaster that hit much of South-East Asia.

Shiva has been helping schools in Sri Lanka for the past few years, and has set up preschools for the children, as the key to poverty would indeed seem to be education.

The below appeal is the 'official appeal' for help at this difficult time.

I would like to ask you to please visit the charity webpage for more information, and please consider donating any amount of money to help Shiva towards their goal to provide at least 20 new schools in Sri Lanka.

At this stage especially, it's important to remember that the devastating effects will become clear for many years into the future, and that the children of Sri Lanka are just as entitled to education as they are in this country, and... that your pennies or pounds will improve the life of children for years to come.

If you would like more information, or indeed would like to donate, you can email me at shiva@gruz.demon.co.uk

I can then make arrangements on your behalf.

Any donation will be doubled automatically by US charity Room to Read!

Wouldn't it be great if someday there could be a Wrington PreSchool...SriLanka!
